DUBLIN, Ohio \u2013 Dublin City Council has approved the basic development plan and basic site plan for a proposed AC Hotel by Marriott, as well as three additional structures for inclusion in the Bridge Park neighborhood. The plans were presented by representatives of Crawford Hoying Development and architect Moody Nolan at Dublin City Council\u2019s regular business meeting on Monday.<\/p>\n
Monday\u2019s vote came after City Council had previously heard an informal presentation on the AC Hotel plans on October 26, where the proposal was met with enthusiastic, positive feedback. During Monday\u2019s presentation, Russ Hunter from Crawford Hoying Development and Brian Sell from Moody Nolan detailed the inspiration behind the design.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe found inspiration for the unique sculptural design of the hotel from the nearby Scioto River,\u201d reflected Hunter. \u201cThe hotel\u2019s curved structure is reminiscent of ripples in the water.\u201d<\/p>\n
As proposed, the eighth story of the AC Hotel will feature a large indoor \/ outdoor bar that will give patrons stunning views of the river, Dublin’s new 12-acre riverside park, the forthcoming pedestrian Bridge, and historic Dublin. The hotel is set to be managed by State College, PA-based hotelier Shaner Hotels, an international hospitality leader owning and managing over 40 hotels in the United States and throughout Europe.<\/p>\n
Approval was also granted Monday evening for three additional Bridge Park structures: a 19,000 SF events center to be be operated by Cameron Mitchell Premier Events; a six-story, 114,000 SF office building, and a 610-space parking structure with 2,500 SF of liner retail.<\/p>\n

Much of the second phase of Bridge Park, including the hotel and event center, is expected to be open by late spring 2017. The intent is to have both open in time for the 2017 Memorial Tournament in Dublin.<\/p>\n
Work on the first phase of the mixed-use Bridge Park neighborhood began in the late summer with the construction of three five-story mixed use buildings and an 870-space parking structure. Steel has already reached the roof level in one area of the first phase, and work will continue through the winter months in preparation for a Fall 2016 opening.
